When visiting France as a British/EU tax paying person, what is the procedure for physical and dental healthcare in emergency / Non emergency situations
You need to apply for a EHIC card that will cover you for most medical expenses occured when being treated in state agremented hospitals or by state assermented doctors. Hospitals will know about EHIC and will claim directly. Otherwise in France one pays up front for treatment by a doctor or a dentist then get reimbursed for most of ( but not all ) expenses by taking the paperwork and receipts to the local offices of the Securit Sociale. If unable to do so then you have to bring them back to the UK and claim from the NHS.
If you are travelling in Europe it is wise to take a travel insurance that will cover you for expenses that will not be met by EHIC or the NHS.
